Job Description:

Job Purpose

The HR Officer is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with Kenyan labor laws, coordinating recruitment, overseeing employee relations, managing HR documentation, and supporting the overall HR strategy to foster a productive and positive work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruitment & Selection
    • Coordinate the full recruitment cycle: job postings, CV screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

Upon request prepare employment contracts in line with the Employment Act of Kenya.

  • Maintain a talent pipeline and support workforce planning.

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (digital and physical).
  • Prepare HR reports (headcount, leave balances, overtime, turnover, disciplinary actions).
  • Manage employee files, payroll input, and statutory deductions (NSSF, NHIF, PAYE).
  • Support conflict resolution and disciplinary processes in compliance with Kenyan labor laws.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and staff welfare initiatives.

Employee Relations

Facilitate grievance handling and provide guidance to employees and supervisors.

Performance Management

  • Support implementation of performance management systems (KPls, appraisals).
  • Track performance improvement plans (PIPs).
  • Assist department heads in ensuring performance protocols are followed.

Learning & Development

  • Identify training needs and help coordinate internal and external training.
  • Keep training records and evaluate training effectiveness.


Support audits, compliance checks, and implementation of HR standards.

Enforce disciplinary procedures consistently.

  1. Welfare, Health & Safety
    • Manage staff welfare programs, leave management, and absenteeism tracking.
    • Support health & safety initiatives in collaboration with HSE teams.
    • Manage medical insurance updates and staff claims where applicable.


Qualifications & Minimum Requirements Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP-K, Higher Diploma in HRM) is highly preferred.

Experience

4-6 years of HR generalist experience in Kenya.

  • Experience in recruitment, HR administration, employee relations, and labor law application.

Experience in FMCG is a must.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws (Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, OSHA, WIBA).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
